Hello, I'm Julie
Making export controls clear, practical and manageable
I'm an export licensing and classification consultant, working with UK businesses that need to understand and meet their export control obligations.
I set up my consultancy to offer something businesses often tell me they can't find: specialist knowledge, delivered personally and explained in plain English. When you get in touch, you speak to me — and I take the time to understand your products, your customers and the way you work before giving advice.
My work covers the whole export journey: classifying goods, software and technology against the UK control lists; preparing and managing licence applications; helping businesses use open general licences correctly; building practical compliance programmes; and the trade documentation that goes alongside, from ATA Carnets to letters of credit.
My aim is simple: to make export controls understandable, so that the businesses I work with can trade internationally with confidence.
My approach
How I work with clients
Integrity
Honest, independent advice — including telling you when you don't need a licence, or don't need my help.
Clarity
Complex rules explained simply, with clear recommendations you can act on.
Pragmatism
Solutions that fit how your business actually works, and the risks you actually face.
Partnership
A long-term relationship, with support whenever your products, markets or the rules change.
